About Novato Stewards
Communities endure through attention. Streets, schools, budgets, and policies may look like the machinery of government, yet the real force that keeps them functioning is citizen awareness. When residents understand how decisions are made and remain engaged in the life of their city, local government becomes more transparent, more accountable, and more responsive to the people it serves.
Novato Stewards was formed from that simple belief.
Novato Stewards is a citizens initiative group made up of Novato residents who believe local government works best when the community is informed and engaged. We are nonpartisan and independent, united not by party or ideology but by a shared commitment to civic stewardship and the long-term health of our community.
Our mission is to research local policy, study budgets and public records, and translate complex government decisions into clear information that residents can understand. We believe that when neighbors are informed, they are empowered to participate meaningfully in the decisions that shape their city.
What We Focus On:
How tax dollars are spent and whether budgets reflect community priorities
How growth and development are managed across Novato
Whether public institutions operate with transparency and accountability
School district finances, parcel taxes, and education funding
A thriving city is not built by government alone. It is sustained by residents who care enough to pay attention, ask questions, and take part in the stewardship of their community.
Novato Stewards welcomes all residents who share that commitment and believe that an engaged public is the foundation of a strong and resilient city.
